About this game

Windowsill is a placement puzzle about light. The shelf is stepped, so some places get full sun and others sit in shade, and every plant in the tray wants a particular amount. A plant that is too tall for where it stands will shade whatever is behind it, which is the part that makes it a puzzle rather than a sorting exercise.

There is no timer, no score and nothing to lose. Put a plant down, take it back, try the other order — the board waits. Every board is dealt from an arrangement that already works, so there is always a solution, and the difficulty is measured rather than guessed.

How do you play Windowsill?

Each place on the shelf gets a certain amount of light, shown as dots — three dots is full sun. Each plant wants a certain amount, and a taller plant shades what sits behind it. Put every plant where the light it gets matches the light it wants, taking the shading into account, and the board is solved.

Is Windowsill free?

Is there a timer or a score?

No. There is no clock, no points and no way to lose. You can put a plant down, pick it up again and change your mind as often as you like.
